Audion Premier Phono Stage
Audion, now in its 14th year, has earned an enviable reputation from its range of valve amplifiers, and its vacuum tube amplifiers are famous worldwide for their faithful reproduction of musical space and timbre.
DESIGN GOALS: The primary goal at Audion is to deliver music as close to the originally recorded sounds as can possibly be achieved. This goal is achieved through extensive research of various circuit topologies, together with specially selected components from around the world. This puts Audion at the forefront of vacuum tube audio reproduction, and no compromises have been made that affect the purity of the signal path in any Audion product.
FAST RISE TIME, PHASE COHERENT EXTENDED FREQUENCY RESPONSE: To provide the fastest transient response possible, solid-state rectification is used, and all designs and their implementation ensure phase coherent harmonic structure throughout the frequency spectrum. All output tubes are used well within their specified performance envelope to ensure low distortion and optimum sound quality, as well as extended tube life.
TUBE COMPLEMENT, INTEGRATED AND REMOTE CONTROL OPTIONS: Preamplifiers, phono stages, stereo and monoblock amplifiers feature E88CC, 6922 and CVX100 input tubes, 5687, E182CC and CVX120 driver tubes, and EL34, PX25, 300B, KT88, and 845 output tubes, both single-ended and push-pull designs, ranging from 5 to 50 watts per channel. Volume controls are included on all amplifiers, and manual and remote control integrated versions of all stereo amplifiers are available.
NEW CHASSIS FOR ALL MODELS: The new versions of all Audion products feature a larger aluminum uni-chassis which permits the use of larger transformers and power supply capacitors than the previous "classic" versions, which were fabricated from stamped steel panels bolted together. The new aluminum chassis has the benefits of no magnetic interferance, more robust construction, and larger internal volume for optimized placement and orientation of all circuit components, and optimized routing of all internal wiring, resulting in improved signal to noise ratio, channel separation and crosstalk, frequency response, and distortion over the previous "classic" versions.
MK 2 VERSIONS OF STERLING AND SILVER NIGHT AMPLIFIERS: Mk 2 versions feature hard-wired point to point signal path circuitry, Black Gates capacitors, Tantalum resistors, and upgraded components throughout. $600 retail upcharge per chassis for Sterling amplifiers, $700 retail upcharge per chassis for Silver Night amplifiers.
