Ortofon

World leader in the cartridge industry
Ortofon has always been a company working with sound reproduction. It was founded in 1918 in Copenhagen and started up making soundtracks for movies. In 1948 the company developed its first moving coil cartridge, since when Ortofon has developed and manufactured more than 300 different cartridges.

Today Ortofon is the world leader in cartridges.. This is a result of significant design experience and great technological know-how.

Acoustics, materials technology and electronics are key competences in Ortofon´s technological prowess. Ortofon has its research and manufacturing facilities in Denmark. The production of cartridges and components is carried out at the company´s factory in Nakskov, Denmark.

Production is based on automated machinery and experienced workers with a high level of craftsmanship. This assures the high uniform quality of Ortofon products. The cartridges are sold worldwide through a network of 60 importers and sales subsidiaries in the USA and Japan. The brand is today widely recognized among consumers and industry professionals.

Ortofon has many new cartridges now available for vinyl lovers. The SPU Synergy is part of the company's MC Rondo Series and features wooden-based housing structures. The Synergy SPU cartridge has black polished Urushi painting and exposes a precious new look that is usually only found on famous pianos. Also part of the MC Rondo line are the models Red, Blue and Bronze. After having been in production for 30 years, Ortofon's successful MC 10, MC 20 and MC 30 cartridges are now being succeeded by three completely new, mid-priced moving coils. The new MC Rondo Series cartridges feature newly developed Japanese wood/resin body as well as a new generator assembly with a 500μV output, making them easy to match with a variety high quality MC phono stages. Lastly, Ortofon's MC Samba and Salsa are entry-level moving coil cartridges.
