Clearaudio Aurum Beta Mk2
Clearaudio Moving Magnet (MM) cartridges offer first rate sound and value with a precision feel. Our MM cartridges undergo stringent quality control, achieving the tightest tolerance by individual testing and selection.
The patented design and manufacture of these cartridges is based on the newest technical advancements. Since 1978, our long term experience and knowledge in MC cartridges have led to the development of these patented MM phono cartridges.
One design highlight is the precisely finished large mounting plate featuring an absolutely flat top surface. This offers an optimal mechanical connection to the tonearm headshell for excellent dynamics and extended bass.
The Clearaudio MM phono cartridges are available in two versions of this mounting plate: Stainless steel and Fernambuk wood.
Clearaudio Moving Magnet Phono Cartridges are precision products that are held to the most stringent quality control standards. The patented assembly process is based on the newest technical advances. Through this process, we hand select materials that are held to the tightest tolerances. The mounting plate of the Alpha, Beta and Beta S cartridges are made of a special resonance free lead alloy material. The Virtuoso Wood uses a special "Fernambuk" wood mounting plate that is only available in the Bavarian Black Forest. Clearaudio Moving Magnet phono cartridges distinguish themselves in a long lifespan, and a replaceable cantilever. An extremely linear frequency response, and an exceptional dynamic response insure a very uniform soundstage. Clearaudio MM cartridges are compatible with virtually all tonearms.

Is the Beta the master of its domain?
Exerts from Sterophile April 2000 by Robert J Reina Immediately after a short break in period, the Aurum Beta was exhibiting characteristics I'd never heard from any cartridge costing less that $1000 The most natural midrange of any cartridge i've auditioned... Articulation and resolution of transients and microdynamics in the league of the best moving-coils....Moreover, the Aurum Beta's resolution and ambience retrieval capabilities yielded a convincingly wide and deep soundstage presentation on well recorded classical works. Timbrel accurate extension of high frequencies. Coupled with the Aurum Beta's startlingly neutral timbrel reproduction from the midbass up, the high frequencies kept going and going in perfect harmonic balance with traces of neither edge nor roll off. HiFi Choice Review of the Clearaudio Aurum Beta S Judges in isolation, the sound is solid, quite detailed and nicely unfussed at climaxes
