Clearaudio Smart Phono Preamp
Editors Choice! Most Wanted Components Award, Stereo Times 2006 Clearaudio Smart Phono ($600). The great thing about the advances in analog music reproduction is that you can gain an astonishing level of performance for very little money. The Clearaudio Smart Phono is a classic example. It's built in a solid silver brushed aluminum chassis and offers the flexibility of MC and MM cartridge use and is dead quiet in operation. Partnered with the likes of the Benz Micro Ace cartridge it can provide the analog lover with even a beer-budget analog rig many years of happy listening [Dave Thomas].
The Basic phonostage offers both MM and MC capabilities, with enough gain to drive the lowest output cartridges. It is a very simple unit to operate with a single button switching between MM and MC functionality. Another nice feature is it dedicated power transformer, which resides outside the actual phonostage to keep the audio circuit as quiet as possible. The Basic is available in both Black and Silver finish.
The layout of the circuitry is optimised for high channel separation, complementing Clearaudio phono cartridges. All of our phono preamplifiers use the Clearaudio non-magnetic MPC RCA jacks.
