Clearaudio Tangent Tonearm
The Clearaudio tangent is the ideal entry-level linear tracking tonearm. The design comes from Clearaudio's years of experience and "positive realizations" in the field of linear tracking tonearms. The chasis is made of two solid aluminum blocks, which are locked to three hardened steel bars, forming a stable resonance resistant unit. The carriage made from runs extremely smooth over the precision machined steel shafts (from the watch and clock industry) with polished saphire bearings. The drive uses polished steel cable, borrowed from the latest medical technology.
The linear tracking design of the Tangent corresponds to the record cutting process exactly, and performs with such precision, even the most experienced audio enthusiast will be impressed. Pivoting tonearms can achieve a relatively high level of perfection, but they all bear a major weakness, only at two specific moments of the duration of the record are they able to achieve truly perfect alignment of the diamond in the groove; all remaining points on the record inevitably suffer from cartridge alignment error.
