The DL-110 signal is much higher than you would expect from a moving coil. It comes with an elliptical stylus. The output impedance is 160 ohms. The high-quality DL-110 has a tracking force of 1.8 grams (+/- 0.3 grams), with a total weight of 4.8 grams. The frequency response of this phono cartridge is 20 to 45kHz. Maybe the audiophiles are right--this frequency response is much higher than a standard CD.

Walton's Belshazzar's Feast sounded like a good, spacious live broadcast, with plenty of depth, a fair degree of ambience, good tonal color and lively dynamics; true diminuendo and crescendo. . . The Denon produced an excellent balance of sound, particularly well-suited to acoustic jazz. It also made more than a fair stab at perspective, managing to keep pace with rhythm and time signatures.
Jerry Raskin Comments on Denon DL-110The owners manual claims in both English and Japanese 1.6mV of output, but when I tested the cartridge it produced 2.2mV. That's the difference between an easy-to use and tweak cartridge. I've always suspected the output was higher then claimed. . . Best diamond stylus in its price range. Under a microscope, it looks like a 100% nude, square-shank diamond with a very fine cut similar to cartridges costing twice the price. I love it.
Positive Feedback Denon DL-110 By Ed Kobesky, 2004 The Denon DL-110 is a winner. Setup is fuss-free and tracking superb. After a brief break-in period, it goes about its business with an ease and refinement that belies its modest price. If you've been wondering why many audiophiles prefer moving coil designs, you'll find some enlightenment here, but be forewarned—unlike most beer-budget cartridges, the DL-110 exhibits genuine character. Its bigger-than-life sound isn't quite "neutral" and certainly not "warm," but in an age when so many entry-level components are recommendable but bland, isn't it nice to know there's at least one affordable product you'll either love or hate?
Audiogon Denon DL-110 Cartridge The Denon DL 110 has a way of getting into the grooves and extracting the information contained therein with total authority. And when playing used vinyl there is hardly a better performer than the Denon DL 110, it will play vintage vinyl with aplomb, where other and more expensive phono cartridges just give up. Due to its diamond shape surface noise is all but non-existent. As well as several albums I have played that I thought had surface noise,when played by the Denon DL 110, that noise was gone!
