Add a turntable to an amplifier that has no phono input or a second turntable to an amplifier with only one phono input. With the Rek-O-Kut Professional Preamp MKII can facilitate the use of a turntable with any line-level input. It's designed for both home use as well as for broadcast and studio applications, and will work with any turntable that has a moving-magnet cartridge mounted to it. Typical input sensitivities of such inputs are roughly 250mV, and the outputs of typical moving magnet cartridges is about 3mV. The preamp boosts the level of the magnetic cartridge and also applies "record compensation" in the form of RIAA equalization. This adjusts the relative levels of bass and treble to match that of modern records.
