Every now and then, the fine folks at Grado Labs will create a special edition headphone using special materials. Prior releases have used wood sourced a Maple Tree from Brooklyn, Whiskey Barrels, or Mahogany. With every specially-released headphone they've introduced, the tried and true "Grado Sound" has been consistent. 2017 sees the next special issue from Grado:
We are excited to announce the release of the limited edition Grado GH2! Some of the world's finest acoustic guitars use Cocobolo - the wood used in the GH2s. It's a rare tropical hardwood from Central America, beautifully colored and so dense it nearly sinks in water. Grado chose this acoustically-superior wood for the GH2 for the way it communicates harmonics - rich and seductive - the sound that makes a Grado a Grado, and then some!
