The Lindemann USB-DDC 24/192 is a digital-to-digital-converter that lets you play your music files use the USB port on your PC or Mac up to 24 bit resolution and 192kHz sample rates in asynchronous mode. The USB-DDC takes the digital stream from the USB port and converts it into the SPDIF digital audio format, which DACs or CD players with digital inputs can convert it into a high quality analogue signal. Because the sound quality derived from this data depends solely on the quality of the digital to analogue converter, high quality playback is possible. In addition, complete galvanic isolation of the ground system of the PC and hi-fi system reliably eliminates the main source of interference encountered when using a PC with a hi-fi system.
The jumper settings inside the USB-DDC can be easily switched between USB Audio Class 1 (up to 24bit/96kHz) and USB Audio Class 2 (up to 24bit/192kHz). USB Audio class 1 (Full Speed mode) runs on all operating systems without drivers (Plug & Play). USB Audio class 2 (High Speed Mode) requires the installation of an additional driver (supplied by Lindemann) for Windows users.
The USB-DDC is shipped from the factory at the full speed mode setting 24/96 (USB Audio Class 1).
