Hifi.nl Review of the AvianoThe short time that the Mordaunt-Short Aviano’s were with me they gave me a very good impression of the quality the designers of this loudspeaker manufacturer can offer for a relatively low price. Although there is a lot of competition in this class, Mordaunt-Short is not beat, on the contrary even. There is a clear difference between the speakers in this series, and especially the Aviano’s 2 and 8 deliver great quality for money. It is also convenient that the Aviano subwoofers offer so many possible settings.

Bookshelf models from dozens of brands are scratching and clawing at one another to be the best, which is great news for the consumer. Among the brands fighting for your dollar is Mordaunt Short. WIth a fairly wide range of options, MS is primed to have a solution for just about anyone on the market. The Aviano 2s are snug in the middle of the line, retailing at $495/pair. Able to be fit on just about any speaker stands, or even on a shelf, they're easy to implement into the room. An impressive detail is that they're capable of being biwired. With decent binding posts, and jumpers for those who don't care to biwire, the end user is set to hook them up out of the box. Construction wise, the cabinet is impressively finished, and the speaker is as sharp looking with the grill on as it is off. The Aviano 2 sports a 6 1/2" woofer and a 1" aluminum tweeter. Vacant of the edgy sound that metallic tweeters often times produce, the Aviano 2s sound smooth and refined. The most surprising aspect of the sound is definitely the bass. Though the Avianos are bookshelf speakers, you won't feel the need for a subwoofer. To say the least, the Aviano 2s are more than worthy of your consideration.
