Ortofon HMC20 Cartridge
The HMC series comes from a rich legacy of Ortofon’s moving coil products. Originally released as a transitional product between the famous MC-10, MC-20, and MC-30 cartridges and the well-reviewed MC Rondo series, these cartridges were designed to offer exceptional performance and detail and in fact rival many modern contemporary cartridges.
The HMC-20 sports a Nude Fine Line Diamond which is great for reproducing fine detail and substantially reducing vinyl wear. Listeners of all genres of music will appreciate a fine balance of frequency response and detail, and a 0.5mV output makes it compatible with a vast majority of MC transformers and even in-built amplification devices.
The HMC-30 dons a Fritz Gyger II (also now referred to as the FG80), which is exceptional at tracking even the pithiest details. Also prompting a reduction in stylus tip mass, listeners of the HMC-30 will find it fast & detailed, without any glare or harshness. Listeners of complex musical genres will appreciate the cartridge’s ability to resolve micro and macrodynamic passages with ease.
