JA Michell Delphini Pro MC Phono Preamp

The Delphini Mk2 is a high performance, audiophile grade phono amplifier, designed for ultimate transparency and realism. It will maximise the performance of a wide range of phono cartridges from ultra-low output Moving Coils to high output Moving Magnet types.

The Delphini Mk2 is user adjustable with a set of four DIP switches on the inside of the unit. These switches allow for adjustment of cartridge loading and gain setting. To access these switches, carefully remove the front panel of the amplifier unit with the Allen key provided. Slide the lid forward to reveal the DIP switches.

The circuitry is signal non-inverting and constructed using high performance, audio grade bipolar and JFET operational amplifiers from Analog Devices and Burr Brown. Metal oxide resistors and ultra low impedance capacitors throughout for lowest possible noise.

The RIAA equalisation network is fully passive and located between two active gain stages. The capacitors and resistors used in this stage are very close tolerance audiophile types.

Two state of the art ultra low impedance, low noise wide-band voltage regulators are employed to power both channels and are largely responsible for the high sonic performance of the Delphini Mk2.

The non-ferrous cabinetry is of highly polished stainless steel and acrylic, a design that avoids the pitfalls of Eddy current propagation that can affect sound reproduction dramatically.

The Delphini Mk2 can be distinguished from the Mk1 by the blue LED shining through the front panel. The Mk1 had a green LED. Owners of the Mk1 can upgrade to the Mk2 by returning the original unit for a board swap.

Three versions of power supply are available for the Delphini Mk2:

Selectable input impedence of 33, 100, 330, 1k or 47k ohms, & gain of 54, 62.5, 68.5, or 70 db. Constructed of acrylic and polished stainless steel. Standard PSU has in-line toroid in ABS Box. Pro unit PSU has low noise toroid, active voltage regulation & 16,000 uF of filtration built into an acrylic and polished stainless steel enclosure. Standard unit is upgradeable to the Pro.
