Pro-Ject Audio's Flagship Turntable
Furthering the design principles of the RM-9.2, the RM-10.1 complements the company’s analog offerings by being its first true reference-quality turntable. A platter with double the mass of the RM-9.2’s ensures accurate speed control with deep and extended bass response. This mammoth dual-layer acrylic platter is mated to a plinth made from ultra-dense MDF filled with metal dust and sealed. This additional weight focuses the combined mass of the platter and plinth for superior vibration rejection and extraordinary mechanical stability. The platter itself is suspended above the plinth by an ingenious magnetic repulsion system using a pair of opposing magnets to “lift” the platter, reducing bearing friction and mechanical noise to a near zero level. The 10” 10cc EVO carbon fiber weave tonearm with integrated headshell provides an incredible rigidity-to-weight ratio. Swiss-built bearings and tempered steel gimbals can extract the most from any high-performance phono cartridge. Precision adjustment of tonearm height, azimuth and anti-skating is easily accomplished by the user. A damped tonearm lift provides accurate cueing and chassis mount RCA connectors facilitate easy interconnect upgrade. A brass record clamp and Ground It Deluxe 3 is included. High Gloss Grey finish.

A Briefing on the RM10.1's Implements
Through intensive listening tests we experienced that different materials transmit their own specific resonating fingerprint to the acoustic result in the playback process. With a specially developed measurement process, all acoustic effects on sound are now totally comprehensible. As a result of higher mass the resonance amplitude turns out to be lower – using combinations of different materials resonances become more diffuse and specific resonances less apparent. RPM 10.1 chassis is the result of our research. Chambers filled with sand and metal lead to high mass and dampens all resonances effectively. The platter is also very heavy. The advantage of high mass can result in higher rumble of the main bearing. To avoid the decline of sound, magnets make the platter almost float on the inverted main bearing with its ceramic ball and plate. All other design features are well known from the highly acclaimed RPM 9. Bass dynamics and overall calmness are clear advantages compared to all other turntables of the Pro-Ject family.

Tone Audio Review of the RM10 (Preceded the RM10.1)
"...After spending a fair amount of time with the VPI Scoutmaster, I was a little bit reluctant to entertain another turntable with a big acrylic platter, but the RM10 cured me from the minute I lowered the stylus down on the first record...I was instantly impressed with the sound of this table."

Stereophile Review of the RM10
"...Immediately impressive was the RM-10’s quiet backdrop-a ‘blackness’ that permitted low-level details and micro-dynamic nuances to pour forth from the grooves…the first table from Pro-Ject that’s not merely a good value, but simply great!"

The Absolute Sound Review of the RM10
"...If you can stretch your budget to this level plus a good cartridge, like the Sumiko Blackbird, you will be rewarded with a surprising level of detail, bass articulation and control, and transparency. The result is a sound that sucks you further into the performance, offering blacker backgrounds, more weight and solidity in the bass, and a cleaner window onto the soundstage. The RM-10 gives one a glimpse of what a reference turntable system can do: Make you feel like the performers are in the room!"
Pro-Ject RM10.1 Features:
  • Chassis, motor housing and granulate filled equipment base Ground it deluxe piano-lacquered dark grey
  • The equipment base Ground it deluxe rests on four individually height-adjustable magnetic field feet.
  • A quiet running AC motor with a two-step pulley drives the platter's outside edge via a belt.
  • The medium density fibre plinth stands on three height-adjustable Sorbothane®-damped aluminium cones.
  • Granulate filled plinth guarantees constant damping. A supplied spirit level allows easy adjustment.
  • The motor is mounted in a separate metal housing to eliminate vibration transmission.
  • Resonance-optimised acrylic platter weighing 5,4Kg and a brass record puck.
  • Magnet supported (amount of support adjustable), inverted bearing.
  • Stainless-steel axle carrying a ceramic ball on which the ceramic bearing plate runs.
  • Central metal block optimises centre of gravity and damps main bearing.
  • Gold plated phono sockets and earth screw. A standard cable is provided.
  • External power supply avoids potential electro-mechanical interference.

  • Tonearm 10cc Evolution Details:
  • The headshell and armtube are fashioned from a single piece of carbon-fibre.
  • Conical armtube avoids standing wave reflections.
  • Inverted tonearm bearing comprises four hardened stainless tips in ABEC7 spec ballraces.
  • Rings provide very solid arm bearing housings. The massive outside ring is open to avoid resonances.
  • Sorbothane®-damped counterweight effectively counteracts unwanted resonances.
  • The counterweights supplied are suitable for cartridges weighing between 4 - 6g, 5 - 8g, 6 - 10g or 8 - 14g
  • Counterweight shaft lowered to record level reduces cantilever forces and dynamic wow when playing warped records.
  • Solid armbase permits accurate height adjustment of armtube and VTA (vertical tracing angle).
  • Single-screw fixing of armtube allows rotation for easy adjustment of needle azimuth despite fixed headshell.
  • Silicone-damped armlift can be adjusted to suit working height of the arm.
  • The internal wiring consists of flexible high-purity copper from the headshell right through to the gold-plated phono sockets.
