The Pro-Ject Speed Box II provides quartz-generated electronic speed regulation at 33 and 45 RPM specifically for most Pro-Ject turntables. Speed stability is an accurate +/- 0.01% and all control functions are microprocessor controlled.
Pro-Ject turntables sound great out of the box, but the Speed Box II offers an affordable and effective upgrade if you're looking to get a little more from your deck. First off, it allows you to switch between speeds with the push of a button, but most importantly, it reduces the speed variance of the record platter. This amounts to much more controlled and natural bass, heightened clarity through the mids , and tighter highs. The Pro-Ject Debut, Xpression, and RM5-SE all benefit tremendously from this upgrade.

6 Moons Review of Pro-Ject Speed Box II "... but if you are like me and crave music, this Pro-Ject system will take you to the Promised Land for far less than you thought possible or necessary to spend."
Positive Feedback Review Well, I didn't expect much from this little box and I was more than a little surprised by the level of improvement it wrought from my system. You get substantially improved sound from your turntable and push button speed change to boot. The motor turning at a slower speed when playing back 33 RPM LPs is said to reduce motor noise though I can't say I heard any to begin with. Though the background did seem quieter and blacker. If I have any complaint it's that the power cord feeding the motor rather short limiting your placement options, especially if your turntable takes up most of your shelf. But for $119, you really can't go wrong. In fact, I would say it's one of the most cost effective improvements you can make to your system. If this little box works with your turntable, and you don't have an electronic speed control already, you are missing what your rig is truly capable of. Adam Goldfine
