The P5 is a turntable born from the legacy of the P25. The P5 celebrates over 30 years of Rega precision crafting specialist hi-fi in Britain. And subsequently combines everything that Rega stands for, which is simply, giving you the best product in terms of quality and style at the best possible price!
The P5 utilizes ideas and engineering techniques used on our more expensive turntables; the aluminum surround, its complex CNC machined skeletal low mass micro-fiber plinth. Not to mention the new RB700 tonearm found on the P7.
The Glass platter of the P5 is hand crafted from floated plate glass 12mm in thickness. This makes for a superb platter material which provides stability and assists in the isolation of record information against other sounds (i.e. /knocking or vibrations) and also provides excellent speed stability; thus providing increased sonic enjoyment.
Upgrade power supply: The TT PSU.
The TT PSU is an optional upgrade power supply for the P5 turntable. It was constructed to help reproduce your music with greater efficacy, utilizing technologies adapted from our flagship turntable the P9 and the P5's predecessor the P25.

Hifi Choice Review of the Rega P5 and P7
Rega TT PSU User Manual Stereophile Rega Planar 5 & 7 Turntables By Art Dudley, Decembe 2004 I began my own musical relaxation with the stock P5, and found it did a fine job of sorting out notes and beats and presenting them as a realistic continuum. Rock music virtually always sounds good on a Rega—but it's worth noting how well the P5 played classical, too.
Happily, both the P5 and P7 add much to the Rega legacy while taking away nothing. And although it's just dawned on me that the names of Rega's musical heights have echoed those of Beethoven—whose greatest symphonies were, after all, Nos. 3, 5, 7, and 9—I'm even more curious to someday hear the Planar 4, Planar 6, and Planar 8.
Absolute Sound Rega P5 Turntable & Exact Phono Cartridge By Jim Hannon, September 2008 The Rega TT PSU is an optional external power supply unit for the P5, derived from P9 technology . Besides cleaning up the power to the table and providing electronic speed control, it reduces the already low turntable motor vibrations to still lower levels. Depending on where you live, you may not need it to clean up the power or improve speed stability. When I tested the speed of the stock P5, it was right on. However, when I added the TT PSU, the noise floor dropped still further, clarity improved slightly, and the bass gained more solidity. Additionally, you can also change the speed from 33 to 45 rpm at the push of a button. At $345, it's a bargain.
If you believe your audio system should help eliminate stress rather than increase it, the Rega P5 turntable system will prove highly rewarding. Its engaging musicality, easy set-up, and ease of use should delight music lovers. The P5 may also be just the antidote for demanding audiophiles who long to enjoy their systems again and be drawn back into the music. Isn't that why we got into this hobby in the first place?
AudioEnz Rega P5 Round and round it goes By Brent Burmester, August 2004 Nevertheless, I found myself liking the Rega P5 for its simplicity and for its genuine sonic virtues. It’s a product that will rise to the challenge of upgrades in support, pre- and power amplification, and cartridge. It’s a worthy successor to its illustrious forebears, and for the money it’s probably all the turntable you’ll ever need.
Customer comments Chantilly, VA ,USA Dean Koppel, 2010 I recently purchased a P-5, TT PSU and Exact cartridge to replace a very old Dual 1249 turntable (a trusted friend). All I can say is WOW, what a difference. This is just a thank you note to the Rega staff on the other side of the pond for a job well done. I couldn't afford a Planar 3 way back in 1977 when I bought the Dual and it's taken this long to reach the point where I could purchase a P-5. I'm glad I did. I'm playing vinyl that hasn't seen the light of day in quite some time. Even the Mrs., sat down to listen to a "record" and remarked how much more natural it sounded than most of the "stuff" played on my CD player.
