Audio-Technica AT-OC9ML/II Cartridge
Precision in Design, Build and PerformanceThe Audio-Technica AT-OC9ML/II is a significant achievement in precision manufacturing with tolerances held to mere thousands of an inch. Stringent quality control assures that these tolerances, as well as performance criteria, are maintained by every Audio-Technica AT-OC9ML/II phono cartridge.
The Audio-Technica AT-OC9ML/II phono cartridge is the second generation of the highly acclaimed model. A brand new design with a gold-plated boron cantilever and MicroLine diamond tip, the Audio-Technica AT-OC9ML/II has received many accolades from music listeners and audiophiles. Moving coil cartridges are preferred by many serious audiophiles, citing clarity and transparency of tone, better defined transients, precise stereo imaging and lower distortion as reasons for their preference.
"The OC9 is astonishingly detailed and surprisingly well organized and focused. There is never any doubt, confusion, or muddling. The feeling of real deep-down clarity is particularly bottomless, helped, no doubt, by immaculate tracking." — Alvin Gold, Hi-fi Answers

The main strength about this cartridge is that it tracks better than any other cartridge of any type I've tried. The only other cartridge that comes even close is the legendary Monster Cable Sigma-Gensis 2000 with its "Microridge" stylus. In terms of the sound quality, I'd give it 4 stars for having great bass and detailed presentation overall, but sounding slightly lean and lacking the last degree of air that the SG2000 has. But in terms of the overall value, 5 stars.

Not disappointed; low surface noise compared with Ortofon MC20 with Garrott Bros cantilever and microscanner stylus. Digs out a lot of detail - perfect match for my SME M2-9 on a Michell Gyro SE. Very good value for money.

Great cart. Detailed transparent highs, not too bright or splashy? lows are articulate but not heavy handed. Very low surface noise compared to other carts. I prefer over Denon DL103R in my system
