A High End MC Cartridge for Any Budget

The Audio-Technica AT33EV cartridge super cedes the AT33ANV, a limited edition and highly rated model launched in 2006 to mark Audio-Technica's 45th anniversary. The Audio-Technica AT33EV cartridge is thoughtfully and thoroughly designed, meticulously and exquisitely crafted so that each component part enhances the cartridge's ability to reproduce signal from the record grooves accurately, perfectly as technologically possible. It is a perfectionist's cartridge.

"Having cartridges like the AT33EV around will make life difficult for makers of high-priced MM cartridges -- there’s now reason to question how much more improvement you’ll hear for all those extra dollars. Certainly, with the AT33EV, there’s no reason to not get all the sonic bliss you can for less money. I’m glad Audio-Technica is now officially importing and supporting this excellent cartridge, which I heartily recommend." — SoundStage!

After being very satisfied with the AT150MLX, I decided to give the AT33 a try while my Kontrapunkt b is out being retipped. While not quite up to the Kb in tone (a personal preference), it is an excellent cartridge and provides a very nice, detailed sonic picture. The only drawback is its large physical size and weight. It is best used with the heavier arms like a Rega or most of the Japanese TAs. Highly recommended at the price-point.

This MC cartridge is a bargain, have played for only about 10hours now,but it impresses me with the music it brings from every recording, good or bad ones.Of course do good recordings sound better but this MC cartridge does not make bad ones sound unplayable. And that is important if you want to play evrything, for example Rolling Stones,The Doors This cartridge makes you want to play and play and play, there are too few hours in a day ;-) I use step-up 13X and 40,4Kohm so the cartridge "see" 240ohm. It sounds great and I`m not sure if this is too heavy or too light load, will experiment with this in the future. This is a musicmachine, highly recommended :-D
