Huge improvement over the Qup
by Adam -
I replaced my Qup with the 6006 safety riser. What an improvement, instead of the bounce that the spring produced with the Qup, the 6006 gently rises the tonearm above the lp. It removed my concerns about having the stylus slammed onto the record surface with the bounce that the Qup produced. Plus, the appearance on the turntable is more pleasing to the eye. It was an easy install on my Audio Technica LP5, (as it should be) and also fits on my Rega Planar 3 (2016). I mounted the 6006 with a 3M clear mounting square vs. the tack that was included due to not wanting to have any residue on the plinth that some sticky tacks will leave. I did this with the Qup and was able to have a clean surface to mount the 6006. It is pricier than the Qup but well worth the investment. Simply put it does what it is supposed to do! Finally, a big thanks to the team at Needle Doctor. The staff is knowledegable, personable, and provide recommendations that fit the customers needs.
Double the Fun!
After 40+ years of jumping up to lift a tone arm I got an AT6006R lifter. It installed with ease and works great. The documents say it fits the Rega 6 I put it on. Matt suggested I try it on my Thorens because it was not on the list of 'fits'. It does fit just as well and my grown children bought me a second one for Father's Day.
I still jump up when a record ends and dash over to the turntable but now, instead of lifting, I get to watch the flawless movement of this tiny gadget as it silently lifts the arm. Just too cool!
