Audioengine B1 Bluetooth DAC
Ratings & Reviews
I tried three other bluetooth receivers before purchasing the B1. All of the others had issues with signal range and quality, and my Samsung S6 couldn't get through one entire song without cutting out. I shouldn't have bothered with the others and went straight for the B1. It's costly compared to other receivers but definitely worth it, especially if you have a temperamental smart phone. The signal is always flawless and it no longer sounds like listening to a scratched CD. It can also serves as a DAC (with bluetooth input only). I run the digital output of the B1 to my Topping DAC because I prefer the sound just slightly more than the B1's DAC. The B1's DAC is however, is quite respectable.

Sound quality is great and set up is a snap. Unfortunately, the unit seems a bit buggy. I will occasionally lose volume control from my device and will have to use my receiver to adjust the volume. If the unit is turned on for an extended period (a few days), I will sometimes have to restart the unit in order for it to work. I really want to like this thing more, it sounds wonderful and it is definitely priced quite fairly. ND staff has been very helpful with me in offering exchanges, so I'd say it's still worth it for you to give it a try.
I absolutely love this product. It is a small, well-constructed, and affordable solution for my specific needs. The sound quality is great. Most of my stereo system is centered around my turntable, tube phono stage, and tube amplifier. I love my modest record collection as much as the next person loves theirs. I enjoy the experience of curating my collection and listening to my records. Having said that, there are times when I want to stream digital audio content through that system without having to clean a record before and after listening, or having to flip the record over from A side to B side. I just want to listen to the news, talk radio, or content I don't own on vinyl. I frequently use services such as Sirius XM, Spotify, and Pandora, as well as files on my devices. The B1 allows me to do just that easily and seamlessly. Because it is so small and unobtrusive, it is easy to connect and camouflage within the system. It allows me to maintain the classic look of analog tube equipment while including the functionality of digital streaming. Set up is extremely easy, and I was up and running within just a couple of minutes. The Bluetooth connectivity and adjustable antenna allow me to stream from my phone or other devices while moving around my apartment with the device. I highly recommend the B1 if your circumstances and needs are similar to mine.
