The Talisman

Clearaudio has significantly improved our fully symmetrical MC design, first patented in 1980.

We redesigned the generator in a revolutionary way by positioning and doubling the magnets (to 8 pcs.) so the coils are operating in a much stronger magnetic field. Furthermore we have chosen the strongest magnetic material available: super neodymium. Through these achievements, the efficiency has been raised by 30%, which results in an output of up to 0.9 mV at 5cm/sec. All models now utilize the improved V2 generator.

The new Micro-HD Diamond tip provides a hybrid parabolic geometry with a stylus radii of 0.008mm x 0.040mm. The total mass (0.00016g) is a fifth of the previous diamond stylus.

Cartridge body resonances, while tracking in the groove, are minimized through the twelve finger design of the mounting plate, each finger with a different radius. This is the result of our constant research and development.

The cartridge bodies of our 5 models: Goldfinger, Titanium, da Vinci, Stradivari and Concerto are made out of the following: gold, titanium, ceramic coated aluminum, Ebony and Satinee wood. The generator construction of the new V2 moving coil cartridge generation is absolutely symmetrical: mechanically, magnetically and electrically, our unique design. All Clearaudio moving coils use our proven 24 ct. pure gold coils.

The Talismann V2 Gold provides the entry level into the latest "V2" - Generation of clearaudio MC cartridges. A major improvement over its predecessor is the use of a patented configuration of 8 magnets, which is characterized by the extremely wide dynamic range. In common with all the MC cartridges in the new "V2"- Generation, the Talismann V2 Gold is fitted with a Micro HD stylus (HD=High Definition) and a precision boron cantilever.

The Micro HD diamond achieves a perfect contact with the record groove walls and by virtue of its extremely low mass, is able to faithfully reproduce even the most fine musical details. The body of the new Talismann V2 Gold is made out of hand-polished ebony with metal top plate and an internal metal-alloy resonance-suppressing block. The name "Gold" refers to the MC generator of the clearaudio Talismann V2 Gold, in which the coils are manufactured from pure 24-karat gold wire.

The combination of these unique features sets the clearaudio Talismann V2 Gold apart from other MC cartridges in this price range.

Great dynamic range and very detailed on my Michell also

I purchased one of these and I adore it. Just open, airy, detailed and really made my Michell come to life. Also, I am not sure why Ryan had such a rough go.I love this cartridge, made my TT come alive!!

I really REALLY love my Talismann! One of my best upgrades in years! Used to have a MM (Virtuoso) but Talismann is better at everything. Great attack, wide perspective and excelent detailing. Very homogen performance and neutral sound. Great for Metal as well. Guess Ryan did something wrong or used it in a bad combination!

May be too bright for some people.

After 100 hours in a vintage Syrinx PU3 on an original SOTA Sapphire The Tali is ready for review. Tracking so far has been flawless and this is confirmed by test records. The Bass is detailed, tight and dynamic. The midrange and voices are silky smooth with accurate sound staging. Now for the down side. There is a broad 3 db depression centered on 4.5 KHz and a 5 db peak at 14 KHz. The result of this is the edgeless midrange but a brightness which is unnatural. I have room control so having corrected for this the the cartridge sounds glorious but without this capability I would reserve this cartridge for systems with a dull high end unless you are fond of this sort if sound.
