The Third Generation The Grado family makes exquisite headphones by hand in their Brooklyn facility. Each iteration of products represents a significant step forward in sonic reproduction. Grado's headphones have already been called "The finest electricity-to-sound transducer in the world". So how did they improve upon perfection? Every single component, surface, and material used in The e Series has been upgraded and optimized for one purpose - outstanding dynamics and fidelity.
Grado's proprietary SpaceBlack Polycarbonate is engineered to absorb excess energy and reduce secondary impulses, for a clearer tone.
The e Series method of curing select Mahogany tone-woods enhances their natural ability to reduce sound coloration and produce consistent results.
Rhodium, the most expensive precious metal on earth, is employed to prevent corrosion on connectors, and unwanted graininess in your music.
iMore than 60 years of Grado Labs expertise have led them to develop the most refined driver geometry in their history, which tracks music frequencies with unequaled precision.
Design refinements within the housing prevent stray resonance from interacting with the driver, thus protecting the purity of reproduction.
The magnetic field has been fine-tuned for symmetry throughout the full range of the voice coil.
Even the glue is new, optimized for greater strength, less mass, and better reliability.
The traditional Grado open-back form factor has not changed, because it delivers superior sonic quality and greater realism than closed-back.
So if you're looking for one good reason to invest in The e Series headphones here it is: they bring you closer to your favorite artists. Your listening experience will feel more intimate because nothing comes between your ears and the performance. Black is the Color of Space Grado Labs developed our proprietary SpaceBlack Polycarbonate to absorb stray sonic vibrations. Those unwanted secondary impulses can 'muddy' the sound, and we're all about purity. The SR125e uses ultra-high purity long crystal oxygen-free copper voice coil wire, and an eight-conductor cable. That's scientific. Get onboard the SR125e if you want space, you want black, and you want the only mud hitting your ears to be Muddy Waters. Grado's ability to combine lightness with extreme rigidity and internal damping has been put to good use on the SR125e. The SR125e features a state-of-the-art driver and cable design utilizing UHPLC (Ultra-High Purity, Long Crystal) copper voice coil wire. With the 8 conductor cable design you will notice outstanding control and stability of the upper and lower range of the frequency spectrum, with both supporting Grado's world renowned midrange. The Diaphragms are put through a special de-stressing process in order to enhance inner detail. The way the SR125e's new driver, cable and plastic housing move air and react to sound vibrations are virtually unaffected by transient distortions. Bass, midrange and treble are open and you will enjoy the fine tonal spread and balance. The SR125e will produce a sound that is pure Grado, with warm harmonic colors, rich full bodied vocals, excellent dynamics, and an ultra-smooth top end. General Design All Grado headphones have a vented diaphragm design that incorporates a large air chamber. This design concept lowers the frequency resonance (distortion) of the diaphragm and extends bass response. The diaphragm is made of a low mass polymer, carefully formed to broaden resonant modes to reduce their amplitude. The diaphragm mass is determined with the compliance of the suspension in mind so that the desired low frequency resonance is achieved. The diaphragm's total mass is calculated to provide a full 20 KHZ bandwidth, while avoiding break-up at lower frequencies. Technical refinements for Grado drivers include improved diaphragm and voice coil design for increased bass response and a larger perceived sound stage. A unique process to "de-stress" the diaphragm results in enhanced inner detail. An increased ability to control driver resonance virtually eliminates distortion. For all models, an improved headband spring will afford greater comfort for the majority of listeners. Sonic Reproduction Grado headphones can reproduce as natural a soundstage from stereo recordings and provide as much listening pleasure as a good pair of speakers do. Grado headphones are free of room effects and placement problems, and they minimize any interference from external noise. They also offer portability and the ability to listen without worrying about the neighbors. With Grado headphones, you will hear recordings with greater clarity and with deeper bass than others! Grado headphones are the antithesis of mass production, as each Grado headphone is hand-assembled and closely scrutinized to meet full performance specifications in the U.S.A. Comments on the Grado SR125 "We all agreed the Grado SR125 headphones are excellent, and that they would be a fine choice for anyone looking first to audio quality" -By Paul Bergman / Ultra High Fidelity Magazine (Canada) Winner of " Critics Choice" -Award presented by SOUND & VISION "Analytical listening was helped by the well-defined locations of individual instruments and voices. If headphones can be as musically satisfying as this, they must be pretty good." -Gramophone "Still, in its own realm the Grado SR125 is a real winner and an excellent value. I cannot imagine a better sounding headphone at anywhere near its price." - Julian Hirsch - Stereo Review Vol.60, No.5 "It was obvious to me that the members were very impressed by the Grado SR125 headphones." -Edward Long- Audio Magazine Vol.79, No.8 "Nearly every headphone-using colleague I spoke to in the USA keeps either SR60, SR80, or SR125s handy for reviewing." - Ken Kessler - HiFi News & Record Review "simultaneously musical and revealing of every nuance recorded" -Robert J. I received a set of the Grado SR125i cans for Christmas 2011. Simply outstanding sound. They exposed some minor high frequency distortion issues that I did not know I had with my system. I made some corrections now my system sounds better than ever. I recommend these to even the most casual listener. These headphones will sound better than the ones with a b on them and cost half as much.

Truly amazing for the price. I have had mine now for over 10 years and every time I put them on, I am amazed at how good they sound. Open rich sound, never hash or bright.

These headphones are the best value I have experienced in 40 years of buying stereo equipment. I just bought them and I'm still experimenting with vinyl and CD's

Can't go wrong
These open-baffle headphones are awesome. I love how big and open they sound, and I'm surprised, especially, by the midband and midbass. I'm not a headphone purist (I do 95% of my listening in-room on a two-channel setup). When I do listen to headphones, I use these Grados with my Audioquest Dragonfly and Mac. The cord is actually long enough for practical listening. And the fit is great--I never get fatigued by wearing them for long periods of time. Great design, durable, ergonomic, and fabulous sound. And the AV-room throwback look is pretty cool, too. I appreciate products that are meant to be used and enjoyed. And I really appreciate products that don't cost a whole paycheck. Thanks, Grado!--you've hit the sweet spot.
