Marantz PM5005 Integrated Amplifier

SKU: MR-PM5005
Integrated amplifiers are the best choice for anyone looking for superb performance without the complexity or cost of a comparable receiver or preamplifier/power amplifier combination. Their minimalist design (no tuner, no fancy processing) means that the engineering team concentrates on the essentials that directly contribute to better sound. So, depending on your point of view, you either get a lot more than you paid for or spent a lot less than you thought you would. That sounds like a "win-win" situation to us. And the PM5005 will sound even better to you.

Current Feedback Amplifier

The PM5005 features current feedback design. This extraordinary circuit accurately tracks quickly changing, wide bandwidth musical signals for greater resolution of fine musical detail. The amplifiers themselves are custom-designed entirely with discrete components so you don't suffer any of the built-in limitations of off-the-shelf integrated circuits.

A Variety of High Quality Connections

Attention to detail is the order of the day: each of the five line level inputs and the phono input feed a buffer circuit that minimizes any interaction between the source and the PM5005, and there's a Source Direct switch so you can bypass tone and balance controls for the shortest signal path from input to output. Want to record your favorite sources? Just connect the recording device of your choice to the Record Out jacks and begin! Connecting speakers is easy, too. New Marantz-designed loudspeaker terminals are easy to use and let you see if there are any problems with your wiring.

Whole-House Possibilities

For the ultimate in custom install flexibility, three built-in remote control command sets enable as many as three PM5005s to be used in a single system. A separate IR flasher input and detachable AC cord allow easy placement in a cabinet or rack, too. A hand held remote control is included.

So, from the composite aluminum/composite front panel to the new speaker terminals, this amplifier fulfills the needs of any music lover whose room isn't quite as big as the sports stadium down the road. And it's a Marantz – your assurance of the best sound around.

I bought the matching CD player when my 5 disc changer died and had to have the amp to match. I wish all new amps had bass and treble controls, I just it had a tuner.

    Best budget integrated amp

I've owned this for almost 3 years, and I use it a lot. I play both records (Denon w/Grado) and CD (Tascam dual 24 bit A/D). Don't let the 40 w/ch power rating scare you off. It can drive my B&W DM601S3 speakers to good volume with no distortion. 8 ohms nominal, dropping down as low as 3 ohms. Require 25-100 watts each. And the sound is great, with good staging and depth. You get more than you pay for with this amp. Only (minor) drawback: no Bluetooth. Wish they would add this to this fabulous inexpensive amp.
