Music Hall MMF-5.3 - Pre-Mounted 9-Inch Carbon Tonearm, Preinstalled Ortofon 2M Blue Cartridge, and Dual-Plinth Design Elevate it to Audiophile Performance Proper

Dedicated to making analog components even during the years when vinyl took a backseat to other formats, Music Hall's expertise shows in the high-end performance and build quality of the MMF-5.3 turntable. Featuring a correctly calibrated and preinstalled Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge (a $236 value), this two-speed belt-driven ‘table is simple to set up and an absolute breeze to operate. You'll be spinning records within just a few minutes of unboxing it. That's because MMF-5.3 also comes with a pre-mounted, 9-inch carbon tonearm complete with flexible internal wire as well as a separately isolated DC synchronous motor. In other words, MMF-5.3 takes care of all the important details for you with high-grade components that concentrate on audiophile-quality music reproduction. Two-Platform Design Provides Superb Isolation and Damping, Many Extras Also Included A dual-plinth design, MMF-5.3 is built with its platter, main bearing, tonearm, and cartridge located on the top platform and cleverly isolated from the motor, switch, wiring, and feet – all mounted on the bottom platform. Viso-elastic cones separate the two platforms and supply additional damping from harmful vibrations. A stainless-steel main bearing sheathed in Teflon, dynamically balanced alloy platter with a soft-felt mat, record clamp, adjustable vibration-damping feet, built-in spirit level, dust cover, and 45RPM adaptor further enhance the stunning performance and incredible versatility afforded by MMF-5.3. 5 Stars!

Like others, I spent a lot of time reading reviews and comparing specs before deciding to buy my first really good turntable. I am very pleased with the Music Hall MM 5.1LE with Music Hall Magic III cartridge, received on August, 2015. Background noise is very low, and I haven't been able to provoke mechanical feedback through my system -- the isolation works very well. Tracking seems excellent, though I haven't invested in any hifi test records with tracking torture tracks. Old records that I've owned since the 60s are cleaner sounding, yielding more audible detail. I wrote to Music Hall, commenting on the number of turns required to secure the record clamp, and a question about adjusting the anti-skate, and received a reply from Roy Hall. I was impressed! 5 Stars. My phone and email contacts with Brian were pleasant, too.

    The best...

I love this turntable. After a year plus of researching etc I finally made up my mind and did it. My 34 year old Kenwood KD-5070 just was no longer tracking well etc even with a new cartridge etc she was finally put out to pasture. No regrets at all. This is by far the best you can get for under $1k. My older vinyl has never sounded so good and my new stuff on 180 gram and up is phenomenal. This bad boy tracks better on stuff I have not been able to play due to tracking issues in the past.

    Terrific

After a great deal of deliberation, and much assistance from Brian at Needle Doctor, I purchased a MMF-5.1 turntable and Ortofon M2 Black cartridge. Many, did Brian at Needle Doctor point me in the right direction! The sound and quality are terrific. Brian really knows what he is talking about when it comes to the getting right turntable/cartridge within a particular price range. I will definitely go to Needle Doctor for all my future audio needs.
