Gain was very good with this pre-amp with lots of bass but not very much high resolution highs for my Denon MC160; I traded for a Cambridge Azur 651P. A little less bassnotes but very, very detailed in soundstage and high resolution
Great, inexpensive phono preamp. The 43db gain setting is ideal for HO (Sumiko and Ortofon) MC and moving iron (B&O and Soundsmith) cartridges. Suprising amount of detail and decent dynamics once broken in. Perfomance for the dollar is amazing! It's an excellent starter phono preamp until I can budget for a MS Phonomena II phono stage, yet it doesn't sound cheap by any means.
This pre-amp brought back the great sound back to my Albums. I couldn't believe they could sound that good. I will would recommend this item This pre-amp is a bargain with this much performance
This little phono preamp speaks for itself. It takes a bit to break in, but once it does, it sounds nothing short of amazing for this price!

Picked up one of these to complement my son's Debut Carbon turntable - what a perfect combination! And The Needle Doctor was awesome (quick to answer questions, knowledgeable, quick to deliver, etc...) as usual!
This little box greatly improved the sound of my system. I'm using a vintage Sansui Au555a integrated amp. The phono stage was getting a little tired considering its age of nearly 40 years. The Phono Box S plugged into the Aux input allows for less need to turn the volume up as loud as I did before to match the signal strength of a CD player. It also cleaned up the sound substantially. Very happy with this purchase. You will be too!
