Xtension 9 Evolution incorporates all our turntable design experience from more than 20 years in a slim-line size to fit standard audio racks. Xtension 9 chassis is made from MDF filled with metal granulate, that gives high mass and is non-resonant. Magnetic feet, which decouple the main plinth from its base, are combined with a weighty 16kg total turntable mass. The result is a unique combination of 'mass loaded' and 'floating turntable' design principles. Instead of pure metal for the main platter, we've found a perfect alloy which we damped on with thermo plastic elastomers (TPE). Additionally we've glued recycled Vinyl records to the top (which act as a perfect mat) and bake this 'sandwich' before precision balancing it. The final product subsequently benefits from a wonderfully resonance-free, heavy platter, that runs ultra-silently on an inverted ceramic ball bearing with magnetic suspension. Pro-Ject Xtension 9 Evolution includes a top-class high end tonearm „9cc Evolution“ and comes complete with a beautiful dustcover.

I've had mine for a few months now, paired with an Ortofon Quintet Black and running through a Musical Surroundings Phenomena 2 phono stage. This combination works really well, at a price point that fits my budget. There is plenty of detail and separation, good image depth on well-recorded music, and enough bass energy to keep things rocking. When I called Brian at ND I gave him a budget and told him I wanted something that sounded like it cost more than I could afford to spend, that was easy to set up, and that wouldn't require a lot of fiddling with once it's up and running. This setup scores on all those criteria. I'm happy with this purchase and with the ongoing support from the whole crew at Needle Doctor.

I was visiting the ND recently when they broke out a red version and my jaw dropped. I They shipped this to me and I mounted my existing EVO III cart and was very impressed. It's stunning looks are only exceeded by the sound it produces with this cartridge. I run this through a Primare system and will never look back. I found this deck preferable to my Rega P7 which I moved to another system.

I've had my Xtension 9 w/ Dynavector 10X5 up and runnings now for two weeks and the combo is delightful! Runs through a Phonomena II to my Jolida 302B [GL/KT77 finals] and on to a pair of vintage SpeakerLab 6s. I couldn't be happier with the table and sound. Kenneth and the crew at ND were top notch to deal with… as long as they have what I'm looking for [and they probably do] you won't find me shopping anywhere else. All genres sound excellent, wonderful mid and highs and well defined bass. Thanks guys!

I could not be happier - the replaced a Rega P3, a good turntable, but this Pro-Ject Xtension 9 is better (should be at twice the price) - matched it with a Ortofon 2m Black - great sound! Very quite - if you buy one check out some videos on YouTube - the manual is not very clear about the installation of the anti-skating weight.
