Rogue hits a home run!
by Robert A.
I have owned far more preamps than I should have. I always wanted to find "the one" but I never really did, and trust me, I spent a lot of money trying. Enter the Rogue RP-5! Like a perfect match from a dating service, I have found a preamp that is as close to perfect as I can imagine. This is a neutral sounding preamp with a hint of warmth but not a thick and overly sweet like tube preamps can be. Not this one! Detailed, light in the upper ranges, a midrange with lots of impact, and tight bass. Overall a highly musical presentation. No need to tube roll either to get the great sound (though I confess I have). An onboard phono section that is good (the linestage is better though) and a headphone section that is good enough for me but in truth, I use 'cans very little.
The remote does it all, and the VFD panel is easy to see, the volume easy to control. Well built, weighs a ton, and just a great musical preamp that made this wanderer stop looking.
